HANCOCK - Richard E. Bond, son of the late Edward and Mildred Bond, died March 15, 2013, in Bangor. He was born July 6, 1945, in Portland.

A graduate of Ellsworth High School, he attended North Yarmouth Academy, the University of Maine and served in the U.S. Navy from 1965 to 1969. A man of many interests, he enjoyed reading, kayaking, biking, hiking and researching restaurant ware. He especially enjoyed driving his Miata convertible during the summer months. He worked for many years at Big Chicken Barn, Orland.
Richard is survived by his sisters, Marianne Scott and husband, Walter, of Surry, Nancy Scott and husband, Jack, of Trenton, and Patricia Thompson and husband, Robert, of Punta Gorda, Fla. He was predeceased by his nephew, Edward "Teddy" Scott; several aunts and uncles.
A celebration of his life will be held 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth. There will be a private burial at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Richard's memory may be made to Emmaus Center, P.O. Box 811, Ellsworth, ME 04605 or Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry, P.O. Box 1672, Ellsworth, ME 04605.
