BRIDGEWATER - Dorothy J. (Boucher) Rusby, 80, passed away unexpectedly Oct. 3, 2012. She was born May 16, 1932, in East Brookfield, Mass., daughter of the late Alfred and Eva (Courville) Boucher.
The Guest Book is expired.
She was married to Edgar A. Rusby for 49 years before his passing in 1998. They owned and operated Rusby & Son Floral Shop and Farm Stand for a number of years in Cherry Valley, Mass., before moving to Maine in 1989. Dot lived life to the fullest and loved to be on the go. Her kindred spirit and quick wit were appreciated by all who knew her. She was not afraid to stand up for what she believed in or tell you how she thought it was! Her strong work ethic was matched by few, surpassed by none. Dot considered the crew at Snow Road Farms like family. She always looked forward to harvest time and leaves a void that will not be filled. She was afraid of missing a week of harvest when her summer job in Massachusetts was extended.
She is survived by son, Scott and wife, Jill, and their children, who were her pride and joy, Tyler and wife, Meagan, Derek, Halee and Jenna. She leaves behind two brothers, Emile of Bull Head, Ariz., and Victor and wife, Janet, of West Brookfield, Mass.; six sisters, Pauline Herbert, Theresa Hayes and Claire Murphy of Brookfield, Mass., Ruth LaBonte and husband, Aime, of Sturbridge, Mass., Rose Cassavant and husband, Andrew, of Spencer, Mass., and Janet Morin of West Brookfield, Mass.; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a sister, Betty Ann Hickman; and brothers, Louis, Francis and Charles. She will be remembered by a special friend, Erma Bradstreet. Her extended grandchildren include Storm, Carly, Mitchell, Kendrick and Blaine, who affectionately called her "Grammy Dot."
Friends may call 2-3 p.m. Monday at Lake Road Free Will Baptist Church, Monticello, where a memorial service will be held 3 p.m. with Pastor Carl Demerchant officiating. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.duncan-graves.com.
