SOUTHWEST HARBOR - Pamela Barrows Norwood, 52, wife of Dan C. Norwood, died May 6, 2012, at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital from a long courageous battle with cancer. She was born Feb. 9, 1960, in Hartford, Conn., the daughter of Norman and Dorothy Barrows of Palmyra. Pam graduated from Nokomis Regional High School 1978, then graduated from the University of Southern Maine with a Bachelor's of Science degree in 1982. Pam was a teacher at Brewer High School, Hampden Academy and most recently at Mount Desert Island High School. She also managed Western Way Condominiums, served on Southwest Harbor Planning Board and served two terms on the board of selectman for Southwest Harbor. Pam is survived by her husband; two daughters, Sara and Anne Norwood of Southwest Harbor; her parents; brother, Brian Barrows and his wife, Lori, their children, Jamie, Jonathan and Janica; and great-niece, Faye of Palmyra; sister, Laura Twitchell and her two children, Christine and Clayton, of Mattawamkeag; mother-in-law, Polly Norwood of Southwest Harbor; brother-in-law, David Norwood of Southwest Harbor; and sister-in-law, Diane Norwood Frost and her husband, Phillip, her son, Lucah, and great-niece Breanna. Pam was predeceased by her father-in-law, Maurice Norwood of Southwest Harbor. Services will be held 1 p.m. May 19 at Tremont Congregational Church. A reception with refreshments will commence immediately after the services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Pamela Norwood Technology Scholarship, care of Bar Harbor Banking and Trust.
