FRANKLIN and ELLSWORTH - Jay L. Wallace, 51, passed away May 5, 2012, at his home in Ellsworth. He was born Aug. 29, 1960, the son of Stuart C. and Barbara (Harris) Wallace. Jay was raised in Franklin and Cherryfield. In 1982 he met the love of his life, Cheri Greenfield, and within three months they were married. Jay and Cheri owned and operated several businesses during his lifetime, including Bayside Burner Service, Wallace Heating Systems, Acadia Spray Foam Insulation and Acadia Engraving. Jay was well known and respected for his mechanical knowledge and ability. He could make or fix just about anything. And he was forever sharing his gifts by using them to help others. Jay was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting of all sorts, especially bow hunting. He also enjoyed fishing, four-wheeling, prospecting and spending time in nature. Jay was an active member of United Baptist Church of Ellsworth, where he used his mechanical skills as the chairman of the facilities team, and where he plied his love of music as a member of the choir and the praise team. Jay was a generous and kind friend to many, and will be greatly missed. In addition to his parents, Jay was predeceased by his brother, Daniel E. Wallace. He is survived by his wife, Cheri; his sister, Victoria Kief of Ellsworth, her life partner, Attila Kovacs, her sons, Arron Kief and Jarid Kief, and Jarid's sons, Jake, Austin, Ross and Brayden; his brother, Stuart Wallace of Franklin, his wife, Patricia, and their children, Lisa Marie and Taylor; Daniel's children, Jeremy, Brent, Joshua and Nina; very special aunt, Marilyn Butler; cousins, Catherine Dunbar and her husband, Gregory, and Michael Butler and his wife, Kathy; and sister-in-law, Heather Day of Sylvan Beach, N.Y., and her husband, Mark and their children, Jae and Danielle. A special thanks to Kelley-Bunker Taylor, Casey Brann, Nancy Hunt and the loving caregivers from Hancock County Homecare & Hospice and Hospice of Hancock County. Visiting hours will be 3 p.m. Friday, May 11, at United Baptist Church, with a service and celebration of Jay's life beginning 4 p.m. Gifts in his memory may be directed to United Baptist Church of Ellsworth, P.O. Box 801, Ellsworth, ME 04605.
