HOULTON and MONTICELLO - Roland "Rollie" Charles Small, 61, went to be with his Lord April 25, 2012. He was born March 11, 1951, in Island Falls, the son of Richard F. Sr. and Joan (Ewings) Small. He served four years in the Navy, some of that time on the USS Thor while stationed at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. Rollie attended school in Monticello and Houlton. His career of choice was driving long haul truck, which was cut short by a severe stroke in 1998. He had been a resident of Madigan Estates since then. In addition to his mother, Joan Simpson of Houlton, he is survived by four children, Roland Jr., Andrew of Worcester, Mass., Heath and his wife, Kerri, of Manchester, N.H., and Carole Small-Justus of Albany, Mo.; several grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Lola Wright and her husband, Robert, of North Berwick, Richard Small Jr. and his wife, Kim, of Monticello, David and Paul Young, Phyllis Czwakeil, Elaine Young, Muriel Denve, Linnie Trotter and Amy Spotten, all of New York; his stepmother, Wanda Small; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and a special friend and cousin, Milton Burtt, who visited Rollie every week while he was in the nursing home. He was predeceased by his father. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. May 19 at Bowers Funeral Home, 10 Water St., Houlton.
