CARIBOU - Ronald Chester Buzzell, 81, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, April 17, 2012, with his family at his side at a Caribou hospital. Ron was born Aug. 15, 1930, in Caribou, son of Chester and Lena (McNeal) Buzzell. Ron was a 1948 graduate of Caribou High School and a 1953 graduate of Clark University. He was an Army veteran who served during the Korean War. He was an active member of United Baptist Church of Caribou, serving as a deacon, past chair of the board of deacons, past Sunday school superintendent and teacher. Ron taught school in Washburn before starting Buzzell's store at Madawaska Lake, later moving the business to Caribou. He was an avid sportsman, who enjoyed hunting, fishing and boating, and spending time at his camp at Madawaska Lake. Ron loved being with his family and was a wonderful storyteller. He had a great wit and sense of humor. He enjoyed playing Rook and Chess with his family. He was a longtime member of Caribou Rotary Club and will be greatly missed by its members. Ron is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Dorothy; children, Jean and her husband, William Duncan, Joyce and her husband, Edward A. Malone, Betty Buzzell, and David Buzzell; and grandchildren, Edward R. Malone, Katie Malone, Carl Anderson, Erik Anderson, Amanda Buzzell and Kayla Buzzell. In addition he leaves behind great-grandchildren, Faith Buzzell, Anna Malone and Simeon Malone. Friends and family may call 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday, April 19, at Lancaster Morgan Funeral Home, 11 Clover St., Caribou, where funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. with the Rev. Gary Johnson officiating. A reception will be after the services at the funeral home. Interment will be after the reception at Maine Veterans Cemetery, Caribou.
