VAN BUREN - Peter P. Carbonneau, 51, died unexpectedly April 8, 2012, in Van Buren, doing what he was so dedicated to all of his life, working as a paramedic. He was born July 24, 1960, in Fort Kent, son of Adrien and Lucille (Sirois) Carbonneau. Peter was a graduate of Van Buren District High School, and was employed all of his life as an emergency medical technician and paramedic. He had worked for Madawaska Ambulance Service for a short while, but mainly worked for Van Buren Ambulance Service for 29 years. Such was the passion of his life, serving his community in many respects. He was a former member and past chairman of SAD 24 school board, a member of Van Buren Housing Authority, member and past chairman of Van Buren Light and Power District, and a trustee of Van Buren Hospital District. He was an Aroostook County bail commissioner for 20 years. Peter was an honorary member of Van Buren Fire Department after serving as a firefighter for 24 years and Maine State Federation of Firefighters until his retirement. He was a member of Maine Emergency Medical Services. Peter was also a committee member of Van Buren Cub Scout Pack No. 196. He is survived by five brothers, Michael and Greg Carbonneau, both of Van Buren, Thomas Carbonneau of State College, Pa., Robert Carbonneau and his wife, Sandy, of Pensacola, Fla., and Bill Carbonneau and his wife, France, of Grand Falls, New Brunswick; two sisters, Edwina Morris and husband, Cyrus, of Caribou, and Helen Carbonneau of Saco; and two nieces, Mindy Carbonneau and fiance, Mathieu Ruest, and Sara Carbonneau. He will also be missed by his constant companion, his sheltie, Teddy. In addition to his parents, Pete was predeceased by an infant brother, Daniel. Relatives and friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and 9-11 a.m. Thursday at Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren. A funeral Mass will be celebrated noon Thursday at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church. Interment will be later this spring at the parish cemetery.
