BANGOR - Stephen M. Morang, 55, went home to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Feb. 27, 2012. He was born May 13, 1956, in Bangor, the son of Walter and Lydia (Carter) Morang. As a Navy "brat" he moved many times during his growing years. He attended schools in Virginia, Illinois, Rhode Island and Maine. He served in the U.S. Navy during the closing days of the Vietnam War. Stephen did not seek for the fame and fortune of this world. Rather, he sought to know his Lord, and endeavored to be a friend and servant to his fellow man. He was loved and respected by all who knew him and will be sorely missed. Although he had no children of his own, he loved and cared for several "adopted" sons and daughters. He is survived by his parents, Walter and Lydia Morang of Eddington; a sister, Carole Blakeman and his niece, Danielle Blakeman, of Eddington; and a special "son," Devon Ireland of Bangor. He was predeceased by a brother, Walter Morang III; and a beloved nephew, James Blakeman Jr. Friends may call 3-5 p.m. Saturday, March 3, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. Graveside funeral services will be held in the spring at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hermon. Donations in his memory may be made in support of the family to 11 Clewelyville Road, Eddington, ME 04428. Condolences to the family may be expressed at www.BrookingsSmith.com.
