William (Bill) Stanley Bridges was born in Bangor Maine to the late Stanley & Avis Bridges. Bill graduated from Orono High School and went to U.M.O. and graduated in 1959 as a mechanical engineer. His career took him to Connecticut, Florida, and back to Lincoln Maine to the paper mill until he moved to North Anson in the early 1980s to help build the new Madison Paper Industries. He traveled to many countries during the construction of the mill including Finland, Germany, Sweden, Denmark and Canada. He retired from Madison Paper Industry in 1999 after twenty years as manager of engineering.
In 1982 he met and married the love of his life Lucie Ellicott. They resided in North Anson for all their married years in the home they built. They were blessed to have celebrated their 30th anniversary on October 30th.
Bill always enjoyed Embden Pond and spent many hours in his boat there with his family and friends. He grew up in Orono and lived on Enfield Lake where he spent many hours on his boats before moving to North Anson. In his younger years Bill enjoyed hunting and snow skiing. He loved football and was a Patriots fan for many years. He also enjoyed hosting backyard cookouts with family and friends, but he didn't have to host a party to sit and tell a great story even if you had heard it before it was still great the second time around. Bill enjoyed his home and liked to spend time improving it inside and out. Another passion was reading a good book or watching a good movie, and the news. He spent a lot of time on the computer and enjoyed emailing a lot of good jokes. He also enjoyed watching the birds and wildlife in the yard. Bill loved music and was a very gifted pianist, organ player, and many other instruments.
Bill was a very caring and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He was always there if anyone needed a helping hand and was always generous with his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all those that were touched by his life.
