BANGOR - William D. Connor died unexpectedly Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, as the result of a heart attack and multiple organ failure suffered earlier in the week. He was born Oct. 15, 1944, to his parents, Gordon A. Connor and Mary Ellen (Higgins) Connor.
The Guest Book is expired.
Bill grew up and lived in Bangor his entire life. He was friends with a great, great number of nieces, nephews and cousins, and was an all around good guy who would give you the shirt off his back. Bill served in the Army and received an honorable discharge in 1968. He was a hard worker and very conscientious and did the best job he could at whatever task he undertook. They loved Bill during blueberry season, as he was one of the fastest rakers in the field. Most of his life he was self employed, painting houses, inside and out, and cleaning and repairing chimneys. The local fire department would seek out Bill's expertise and ideas for chimney safety guidelines. He enjoyed walking outdoors and loved looking at wildlife. Bill was particularly happy if he could buy an old car or truck for a couple of hundred dollars and get it to run - and he ran quite a few of them.
Bill was predeceased by his mother, Mary, in 1975; and by his father, Gordon, in 1996. He is survived by brother, Robert S. Connor and wife, Molly, of Rockwell, N.C.; his sister, Elizabeth A. Grant and husband, Freeland, of Bangor; and his sister, Beverly J. Dubay and husband, Norman, of Tucson, Ariz. He is survived by his loving aunt, Virginia (Higgins) Winchester. He is also survived by many special loving nieces and nephews, Robbie Sue Connor, Deirdre A. McPherson, Stephanie Connor, Gordon Brent Connor, Rhonda Connor, Norman Dubay Jr., Jennifer Dubay and Lisa Dubay. In addition, he is survived by several great-nieces and great-nephews, Justin, Justin Jr., Tyler, Chelsea, Andrea, Talia, Jetta, Aidyn, Liam and Madeleine; many cousins and extended family from Bangor and around the country. Bill will remain forever in the hearts and minds of all who knew and loved him.
Funeral services will be held in late May or early June at a day and time to be announced at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. Interment will be at Mount Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, Bangor. Condolences to the family may be expressed at www.Brookings-Smith.com.
