BREWER - Wayne C. "Golfie" Ireland, 73, died June 16, 2012, at a Bangor health care center. He was born July 7, 1938, in Brewer, the son of Murray A. and Georgie (Hayward) Ireland. Wayne was a longtime resident of Brewer, worked for Eastern Fine Paper and worked as a truck driver for many years. He was a member of New England Teamsters and Truckers, and was a 34-year member of Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aeries No. 3177, Brewer. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed watching the Red Sox and Patriots. Surviving are one sister, Bernice Ireland; brothers, Leroy "Roy" Ireland of Bangor and Donald Ireland of Florida; five children, Michael Ireland and his wife, Janis, of Brewer, David Ireland and his wife, Deanne, of East Corinth, Wayne Ireland Jr. and his wife, Susan, of Brownville, Kelley Jones of Billings, Mont. and Ruth-Ann Miller and her husband, Bob, of Billings, Mont.; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; his companion of many years, Ellie Adley and her son, Rick, of Hampden; sister-in-law, Noreen Ireland; the mothers of his children, Pauline "Polly" Ireland of Old Town and Roberta Martin of Newport; and many friends. He was predeceased by his parents; and by one sister, Dolores "Dolly" Rush. A celebration of Wayne's life will be held 7 p.m. Monday, June 25, at Brewer Eagle Club with the club officers presiding. Family and friends may visit at the club beginning 6:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to help support the services, care of Ellie Adley, 681 Main Road North, Hampden, ME 04444.
