MEDWAY - Vivian A. York, 84, went home to be with her Lord April 28, 2012. Vivian was born Feb. 1, 1928, in Medway, the daughter of Merle and Clotell (Caswell) McLaughlin. She was married to Vaughn York, the love of her life for 36 years. During that time she owned and operated York Slaughter House with him before he passed away in 1989. She continued working there until 2004 when her health no longer allowed her to be there. She loved to crochet and knit, canning from her home grown gardens, making jellies, teaching Sunday school - which she did for 40 years!, and spending time with her family. She thought the world of her grandchildren - she absolutely adored babies. She loved to sing a song that God gave her, which will be forever instilled in the hearts of those who loved her. Vivian is survived by her seven children: son, Danny, son, Galen and wife, Lori, son, Perry and wife, Tracie, daughter, Pamela Hayes, son, Phillip and fiancee, Lori Fleming, son, Joel and fiancee, Sandra Boutaugh, and daughter, Julie McGowan and husband, Patrick; 13 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Olive LaPlante; a brother, Keith Borrello; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by 11 brothers and four sisters. Vivian also leaves behind her beloved dog, Tinkerbell, who will miss her greatly. The family expresses their appreciation for her special caregivers: her son Danny, her daughter Julie, her granddaughter Stephanie, and Stacey. Special thanks to Katahdin Area Support Group for their hospice care as well as all the things necessary to be able to keep Vivian at home during her last days. Friends may visit with the family 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, and 10 a.m.-noon Wednesday, May 2, at Living Hope Nazarene Church, 1 Palm St., East Millinocket, where a celebration of her life will be held noon Wednesday with Pastor David Shaw officiating. Interment will be at Grindstone Cemetery. Gifts in Vivian's memory may be sent to Katahdin Area Support Group, 10 Field St., Millinocket, ME 04462. Arrangements by Lamson Funeral Home, Millinocket. Messages of condolence may be expressed at www.lamsonfh.com.
