MILLINOCKET - Shane A. Barr, 48, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013. He was born Aug. 11, 1964, in Millinocket, the son of Eugene C. and Amy L. (Hussey) Barr.

Shane grew up in Millinocket and was a graduate of Stearns High School, class of 1982. He was an employee of Lincoln Paper and Tissue working in stock prep. Shane was an avid sports fan and participated in area pool and fantasy leagues. He also enjoyed fishing and playing cards. He was a member of the Sons of American Legion, Elks Lodge No. 1521, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Millinocket, and Francis Elliott Post No. 4154 Veterans of Foreign Wars, Millinocket. Shane will be remembered as a loving father, a good friend and a competitive gamer. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, but most important to him was the time he spent with his son, Nick.

Shane is survived by a son, Nicklas Barr of West Enfield; a sister, Jo-Ellen Kelley and her husband, Chuck, of Limestone; a brother, Eugene (Foot) Barr and his life partner, Janet Comeau, of Millinocket; a nephew, Carl Barr and his wife, Wendy, of Missouri City, Texas; a niece, Andrea Barr of East Millinocket; and two great-nieces, Brooke and Hannah. He will also be missed by the mother of his son, Diane Dube and her family of West Enfield; and a special friend, Tracy Vadnais of Millinocket and her daughters, Nicole and Tasha.

Friends may visit with the family 10 a.m.-noon Saturday, Jan. 19, at Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket, where a memorial service will be celebrated at noon with Deacon Danny Watson. Gifts in memory of Shane may be sent to in his name. Messages of condolence may be expressed at
