FORT FAIRFIELD - Ryan Dana Allison Butler, 38, passed away unexpectedly Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, in Fort Fairfield. He was born Dec. 20, 1974, in Perth, New Brunswick, the son of Mitchell J. and Sharon P. (McCarthy) Butler.

Ryan was a communicant of Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Denis Catholic Church, Fort Fairfield; and a graduate of Fort Fairfield High School, class of 1993. Ryan also attended the University of Maine at Presque Isle and had been employed by Acme Monaco Corp., Presque Isle, as a machine operator. Ryan will be remembered as a gentle soul whose life revolved around his children. He loved the outdoors, especially gardening, hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his parents, Mitchell and Sharon Butler of Fort Fairfield; one son, Samuel T. Butler; and one daughter, Avery A. Butler, both of Fort Fairfield; one brother and sister-in-law, Adam J. and Archana Butler of Presque Isle; one sister and brother-in-law, Sabrina and Stephen Hardwick of Linneus; paternal grandfather, Omar J. Butler and his companion, Sandra Thornton, both of Fort Fairfield; special friends, Sam and Kim Wasson of Presque Isle; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, John and Beatrice McCarthy; and his paternal grandmother, Ina J. Butler.

Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, at Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, at Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Denis Catholic Church, 147 Main St., Fort Fairfield, with the Rev. Jean-Paul Labrie, celebrant. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will be held after the Mass at Veterans of Foreign Wars Paul Lockhart Post No. 6187, Presque Isle Street, Fort Fairfield. Interment will take place later in the spring at St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery, Grand Falls, New Brunswick. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Ryan to establish a scholarship fund for his children, care of Mitchell Butler, 10 Cogswell St., Fort Fairfield, ME 04742. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and church.
