BANGOR - Ruth E. Tompkins, 77, passed on peacefully to God's loving arms Jan. 31, 2013, at a Bangor health care facility. She was born Jan. 18, 1936, in Knoxville, New Brunswick, daughter of the late Wendell and Mildred Bishop.

Ruth is survived by her many loving family members, including but not limited to her children, Dianne Davis and her husband, Phillip, of Carmel, Larry Tompkins and his wife, Terri, of Florida, Randy Tompkins and his wife, Laurie, of Brewer and Allison Tompkins and his wife, Tracy, of Corinth; four grandchildren, Christopher, Bryce, Brooklyn and Jillian; one great-grandchild, Makenzie; as well as many family members from near and far.

Mum will forever be remembered in all our hearts and with each memory of her cherished. Her loving ways and selfless nature is an example for her family to carry on as a tribute to her. We and countless others will think of Mum with a smile when we recount her love of gospel and country music, sometimes too loudly so others could enjoy it as well. We extend our gratitude to all the special caregivers that tended to Mum's needs as if she was a member of their family. Sing with the angels Mum and know we'll always love you and we're all so proud and blessed to have called you Mum and Nanny.

A private celebration of Ruth's life will be held this summer.
