SACO - Ronald F. Holmes, 73, died Saturday morning, June 9, 2012, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, Scarborough, after an extended illness. Ronald was born Aug. 18, 1938, in Fort Fairfield, the son of Lawrence and Margaret (Day) Holmes. He was raised and educated in Fort Fairfield and was a graduate of Fort Fairfield High School, class of 1957. He married his loving wife of 52 years, Dolores Guimond, in 1960. They raised a family and resided in Fort Fairfield until 2001, when they moved to Saco. Ronald "Ronny" worked for more than 20 years at A&P, Fort Fairfield, and later at Lane Construction until his retirement. He was a devoted family man, as well as an expert woodworker. Ronny loved card games and his favorite was "45," which he enjoyed his entire life. He never missed a Friday night game of cards. Ronny was predeceased by his father, Lawrence; son, Rex; and grandson, Jason. He is survived by his wife, Dolores of Saco; son, Ray and wife, Rose, of Alfred; daughter, Robin and husband, Jonathan Reed, of Saco; his mother, Margaret of Mars Hill; sister, Shirley of Fort Fairfield; five grandchildren, Ashley, Mary, Abby, Tracy and Brandon; one great-grandson, Izaiah of Hawaii; one daughter-in-law, Milagro Holmes of Florida; as well as several nieces and nephews. Interment will be at a later date at Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, 11 Hunnewell Road, Scarborough, ME 04074.
