BANGOR - Robert Paul Joseph Kane, 57, passed away peacefully Dec. 16, 2012, at home. He was born July 30, 1955, in Bangor.

Robert served in the U.S. Navy from 1973 to 1979. Throughout his working life he was employed at Service Master, Bath Iron Works, University of Maine, Locksmith Co., and as a self-employed carpenter. Robert enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting and playing pool. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 3177.

Robert was predeceased by his mother, Mary L. Libbey; his sister, Mary J. Thibeault; and grandmother, Olive E. Libby. He is survived by his fiancee, Geneva Walters; children, Julie Kane and Robert Niles; sisters, Deborah George and Michele Kane; and many other family and close friends.

A remembrance of his life will be held 5-7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28, at Bangor Elks Lodge No. 108, Odlin Road, Bangor. Condolence to the family may be expressed at
