GRAY - Raymond C. Hardy, 66, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, June 12, 2012, at Maine Medical Center, Portland. Ray was born Feb. 26, 1946, in Bangor, the son of George and Lillian (Wharton) Hardy. Ray grew up in the Bangor area, attending Bangor schools and graduating from Bangor High School, class of 1964. Ray attended the University of Maine and graduated with a degree in business management. He married Linda Shepard in 1971 and had one son, Dennis Hardy. Ray and Linda raised their son in East Holden, where they resided until they moved to Gray. Ray worked as a business manager for many school districts in the state of Maine, most recently as an independent consultant until his retirement this year. Ray is survived by his wife, Linda Hardy of Gray; his son, Dennis Hardy and his wife, Danella, of Wichita, Kan.; as well as his two grandsons, Devan and Drew, who were his pride and joy. He is also survived by his sister, Linda Wain of Stoughton, Mass.; his three sisters-in-law and brother-in-law and their spouses, niece, nephews and their children. Ray will be missed by all those that knew and loved him. A memorial gathering will be held 1-4 p.m. Monday at Wilson Funeral Home, 24 Shaker Road, Gray.
