OCALA Fla., and LUBEC - Phillip W. Calkins, 86, passed away June 25, 2013, at home. He was born March 13, 1927, in Lubec, to the late Raymond and Evelyn (Davis) Calkins.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1945-1947. He returned to Lubec and was employed at Somers Hardware store for ten years. He moved to Connecticut where he was employed by Pratt and Whitney Aircraft for 33 years before his retirement to Ocala, Fla. Phillip was a member of Congregational Christian Church of Ocala. He was also a lifelong member of American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Phillip is survived by Shirley, his wife of 67 years; and daughters, Sharon Mills and Joy and Fred Walton; sisters-in-law, Betty Calkins, and Gerry Green; brother-in-law, Philip Somers; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Jay Calkins. The family would like to express a special thanks to Hospice of Marion County.
