BAR HARBOR - Philip R. Corson, 78, died June 30, 2012, at a Bangor health care facility. He was born July 15, 1933, in Trenton, son of Robert and Jane (Hillman) Corson. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Philip was a commercial lobsterman for most of his life recently retiring in 2011. He enjoyed starting his day off by sharing morning coffee and conversations with friends at Hulls Cove General Store. Phil was a well-respected member of the fishing community and leaves behind many friends from all generations. Philip's retirement enjoyment also included the purchase of his first Harley Davidson, and enjoyed his weekend rides with his traveling friends, Diane, Whitey; and the rest of the crew. In the earlier years, he and his wife, Carroll, raised six children on lower Rodick Street where the family operated a small lobster pound, Travelin' Lobster. After the business was sold the family moved out to Crooked Road, Bar Harbor. This would be the homestead of where the children would grow and venture out into the world. Philip is survived by three sons, Kevin Corson and wife, Yvonne, of Austin, Texas, Tim Corson and wife, Tina, of Winterport, and Philip Corson and wife, Kelly, of Bar Harbor; three daughters, Catherine Churchill and husband, David, of Ellsworth, Mary Jane Dugas and husband, Brian, of Wyoming, Pa., and Lisa Albee and husband, Jeff, of Franklin; 15 grandchildren, Phillip, Chad, David, Lauren, Kelly, Michael, Karen, Mackenzie, Molly, Nicholas, Benjamin, Brianna, Daniel, Coty and Derek; one brother, Neil McKay; and two sisters, Alta Hillman and Donna Corson. Philip was predeceased by his wife, Carroll (Luty) Corson, in 1998; and grandson, Mathew, in 2010. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, July 7, at Jordan-Fernald, 1139 Main St., Mount Desert. Interment will be at Ledgelawn Cemetery, Bar Harbor. If friends desire, contributions in Philips memory may be made to Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, Gift Processing Administrator, 18251 Quantico Gateway Dr., Triangle, VA 22172, which was a yearly trip he made to Augusta in delivering toys to this event.
