CARIBOU and FORT FAIRFIELD - Philip E. Sprague Sr., 72, husband of Marilyn A. (Fraser) Sprague, passed away Thursday morning, Dec. 20, 2012, at a Caribou health care facility, after an extended illness. He was born Aug. 20, 1940, in Fort Fairfield, the son of Earlon E. Sr. and Earline M. (Day) Sprague.

Philip attended Fort Fairfield schools and had been employed by Industrial Plumbing and Heating, Caribou, for a number of years and also worked for several area farmers, including S. Nightingale Co., and Paul and David McKenney Farms, all in Fort Fairfield. He was married to Marilyn A. Fraser July 15, 2001. Philip was an avid outdoorsman who greatly enjoyed hunting, fishing, and picking berries for his mother. He was quite the storyteller, and hard worker since he was a young man. He will be remembered as a wonderful son, husband, brother, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
In addition to his parents, Philip was predeceased by one daughter, Deborah Sprague, in September 1968; one grandson, James Patrick Sprague; one brother, Ronald W. Sprague; and one sister, Phyllis Woods-Paul. He is survived by his wife of 11 years, Marilyn of Bordentown, N.J.; four sons, Philip Edward Sprague Jr., Paul D. Sprague, both of Fort Fairfield, Wesley P. Sprague-Fraser and his companion, Kate Latham, of Caribou and Chris Fraser of Bordentown, N.J.; three daughters, Mildred Monday and her husband, Joseph, of Georgia, Brenda Johannsen and her husband, Marty, of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Stacy Cote and her husband, Jerry, of Fort Fairfield; two brothers, Earlon E. Sprague Jr. of Oklahoma and Lester Sprague and his wife, Juanita, of Hartland, New Brunswick; one sister, Karen Everett and her husband, James, of Fort Fairfield; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, at Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield. The funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m Sunday, Dec. 23, at the funeral home with the Rev. Mark Babin officiating. Interment will take place in the spring at Green Ridge Cemetery, Caribou. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will be held at VFW Paul Lockhart Post No. 6187, Presque Isle Street, Fort Fairfield, immediately after the funeral service.
