WASHBURN - Paul J. Umphrey, 60, passed away peacefully Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 11, 2012, surrounded by his family, at his residence. He was born Aug. 14, 1952, in Presque Isle, the son of Jasper "Bud" and Elizabeth (Lavway) Umphrey.

He owned and operated Diamond U Transport and enjoyed truck driving for 40 years. Paul enjoyed campfires at Portage Lake spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Trish Umphrey; twin sons, Marc Umphrey of Chester, Va., and Michael and his wife, Jesie Umphrey, of Chesterfield, Va.; two daughters and their husbands, Shelly and Greg Solomon of Veazie and Christina and Corey Darveau of Bucksport; a brother, Michael Umphrey and his wife, Lynn, of Washburn; a sister, Hollie Umphrey and her companion, Vicki Krauthamer, of Portage Lake; 10 grandchildren; and his faithful dog, Dexter.
A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, at the Shiner's Hall, Houlton Road, Presque Isle, with the Rev. Otto Palmer officiating. Spring interment will be at Crouseville Cemetery.
