ENFIELD - Paul F. Wallace Sr., 84, husband of Althea (Shedd) Wallace, passed away Jan. 11, 2013, at a Bangor hospital. He was born May 7, 1928, in East Machias, the son of Corice (Harmon) Wallace and George Wallace.

He moved with his family to Mattawamkeag when he was 12 years old and graduated from Mattawamkeag High School in 1946. He married his high school sweetheart, Althea (Shedd) Wallace in 1948. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1955. Paul worked for Maine Central Railroad for 42 years, retiring in 1987. He and Althea spent 21 winters in Lakeland, Fla., where they enjoyed one of their favorite pastimes - square dancing. He was a 62-year member of Pine Tree Lodge No. 172, Mattawamkeag. He was a member of Anah Temple Shrine, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rites, Valley of Bangor and Valley of Portland. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a life member of Order of the Eastern Star. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Lincoln.
In addition to his wife, Althea, he is survived by a son, Paul Jr. and his wife, Sandra; a granddaughter, Christina; a grandson, Dylan; a sister, Eileen Priest; a nephew, Dwight Priest and his wife, Norma, and their children, Ryan and Aaron; three brothers-in-law, Galen Shedd, Derward Shedd and Alton Shedd; and a sister-in-law, Janet Moulen. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother-in-law, Bryce Priest; and a very close cousin, Mary Wallace.
Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Sunday at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln, during which time a Masonic memorial service will be held 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Roy Richardson officiating. Spring interment will be at Mattawamkeag Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Lincoln United Methodist Church Handycap Restroom Fund.
