PEMBROKE - Nils B. Nelson, 35, died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012, in Clinton, Mass. Nils was born in Rumford and relocated with his family at a young age to Mount Airy, Md.

He was a graduate of Linganore High School, where Nils ran track and played trumpet in the marching band. He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maryland and began his career in engineering with Navsea before recently joining TUV Rhineland. Nils was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hiking and climbing, and was an accomplished license pilot, who enjoyed the freedom of the skies.

He is survived by his beloved daughter, Christina May Nelson; his parents, Bruce and Paula Nelson of Pembroke; sisters, Tammie Martin of Stafford, Va., and Julie Vignato of Vista, Calif.; paternal grandmother, Thelma Nelson of New Sweden; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many dear friends.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, at Charlotte Baptist Church, 1096 Ayers Junction Road, Charlotte. Burial will be at Clarkside Cemetery, Pembroke.
