At a young age she moved with her family to her beloved Maine where she was raised and educated in the Portland schools. She graduated from Portland High School in 1939, and Northeastern Business College, a two-year business school, where she honed keen secretarial skills. She married Thomas Russell Woolley Jr. of Bridgton, July 20, 1942, prior to their relocation to San Diego, Calif. Nancy Woolley was, primarily a devoted wife, loving mother, and busy homemaker who, with her husband, raised five children in three residential locations: Orono, Austin, Texas, and Pittsburgh, Pa. Nan and Russ made and maintained many friendships over their almost 48 years of marriage. They enjoyed playing bridge, attending social, sports, and professional events, entertaining, and traveling. She was an accomplished cook, talented seamstress, and a loving friend to many. She had a great sense of humor and a strong belief in making the best of any situation. She adored cats and...sweets. In 1983, she retired from her administrative assistant position of many years in the guidance department of Fox Chapel High School in the Pittsburgh suburbs and relocated to Freeport, with her husband. After his death in 1990, she moved to her Glenridge condominium in Portland with two Siamese cats, and in 2002 to the Barron Center due to her declining health.
She is survived by two daughters, three sons and their spouses: Peter and Pamela Woolley Viehweg of Marietta, Ga., and South Bristol, George and Linda Woolley Smith of Sidney and Cliff Island, T. Russell III and Nan Woolley of Bangor, Christopher and Anne Woolley of Charlotte, N.C., and Douglas and Mary Catherine Woolley of Freehold, N.J.; 10 grandchildren, Jeffrey Viehweg and Jennifer Viehweg Barakat, Jason E. Rayne, Kyle and the late Erin Woolley, Anna Beth and Sarah Grace Woolley, Kenneth, Ryan and Alec Woolley; and four great-grandchildren, Jessica and Matthew Viehweg, Dylan and Ryder Barakat. She is also survived by a brother, Richard "Dick" Loomis, 94, of Methuen, Mass.; and sister-in-law, Phyllis Karlson, 90, of Manchester, Conn.
