BUCKSPORT - Mitchell G. Cote, 53, died Feb. 11, 2013, as a result of an accident at his home. He was born May 24, 1959, in Patterson, N.J., a son of Clarence "Rod" Cote and Dee (Gravelin) Cote Burpee.

He attended Exeter and Dexter schools. Mitch previously owned and operated a small business in Bucksport; he had worked for many years at Waste Management as a driver. Mitch was a member of Franklin Street United Methodist Church and Appalachian Mountain Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Mitch was totally devoted to his children, he was a loyal son, father, brother, uncle, friend and worker, who was gentle, kind, generous and loving.

He is survived by his mother, Dee Burpee of Brewer; children, Shannon Cote of Bucksport, Matthew Cote of Penobscot and Michelle Cote and son-in-law-to-be, Dekota Burns, of Bar Harbor; brothers and sisters, June Hall and husband, Hubert, of Newport, Barbara Gould and husband, Donald, of Exeter, Ronnie Cote and wife, Donavee, of Hermon, Larry McLucas of Illinois, Paul Cote of Garland, Carolyn Fish and husband, Tim Reid, of Bangor and Delores Ritton of Corinna. He is also survived by his Ashmore stepbrothers and stepsisters, as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Clarence "Rod" Cote; and stepfather, Wilfred Burpee.

Family and friends will gather for visitation 5-7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, at Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport, where a funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, with Pastor Peter Remick officiating. Interment will be in the spring.
