BLUE HILL and GLOUCESTER, MASS. - Michael E. Grindle, 40, died unexpectedly Sunday, July 7, 2013, while at sea. He was born Jan. 29, 1973, in Ellsworth, son of Thomas and May (Torralva) Grindle.

Mike, known as "Grin" to many of his friends, grew up in Blue Hill and had a lifelong love of fishing and the sea. He enjoyed ATV riding, snowmobiling, motorcycle riding, and spending time with his friends and family. Mike had a very generous and giving nature.
Michael is survived by his parents, Thomas and May Grindle of Blue Hill; sister, Jackie Snow and husband, John, of Penobscot; nephews, Tyler and Parker Snow; special young lady, Kenzie Lamson; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Basil A. and Nora S. Grindle of Blue Hill, Wanda L. Gray of Blue Hill and Herman G. Torralva Sr., of San Francisco; and uncle, Herman G. Torralva Jr.
A celebration of Michael's life will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 20, at Blue Hill Town Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Michael's memory may be made to the charity of one's choice.
