CARIBOU - Mary Elizabeth (Carnazza) Mowatt, formerly of Worcester, Mass., a loving mother, daughter, sister, wife and friend was called to God Tuesday, May 15, 2012. Mary leaves behind her cherished family: two adoring sons, Eric and Ian Mowatt, both of Caribou; and husband, Wayne Mowatt, also of Caribou. Mary also leaves her mother, Anne Marie (Carnazza) Lynch and husband, Bill, of Spencer, Mass.; four brothers, Joseph Carnazza and wife, Paula, of Montclair, N.J., Stephen Carnazza and wife, Susan, of Marion, Mass., John Carnazza and wife, Steffanie, of Spencer, Mass., James Carnazza and wife, Cory, of Holden, Mass.; an uncle, many nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by her father, Paul J. Carnazza of Worcester, Mass.; two sisters, Susan and Anne Marie; and brother, Paul Carnazza. Mary grew up in Worcester, Mass., and was educated in the Catholic schools. She was a graduate of Marion High School, Worcester, Mass. Mary attended the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, Mass., graduating with a bachelor's degree in special education. Mary attended McGill University School for the Deaf, Montreal, Quebec. Mary moved to northern Maine and received a second master's degree in education. Mary developed programs for disabled children at Helen P. Knight School, Caribou. She also became an English teacher and school principal in Easton schools. Most notable of Mary's career is her work as a psychological evaluator for surrounding Aroostook County school districts and her tireless work with children with disabilities. Mary's favorite times were spent in her homes in Camden, strolling to the harbor and at Carabassett Valley, both by the river and on Sugarloaf Mountain. Mary's kindness and generosity will be deeply missed. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial Mass celebrating Mary's life June 7 at St. Johns, Worcester, Mass. www.mocklerfuneralhome.com
