NEW LIMERICK - Mark L. Nightingale went to be with the Lord March 15, 2013, at his home, surrounded by his family. Mark was born May 19, 1951, the eldest son of Emery and Norma Leavitt Nightingale.

He attended Houlton High School and after graduation joined the Army National Guard, where he served on inactive reserve until 1975. He married Judy Botting in 1974 and worked the family farm until his death.

He is survived by his wife of more than 38 years, Judy Nightingale; his son, Matthew and his wife, Heidi (Leach) Nightingale, and their children, Kathryn, Alyssa and Emery; as well as his daughter, Becky (Nightingale) MacIlroy and her husband, Sam, and their daughter, Natalie. He is also survived by his mother, Norma; his sister, Lynda Dorr and her husband, Ricky, of Bar Island; his sister, Karla and her husband, Paul Harrison, of New Limerick; his brother and business partner, Frank "Buzzy" Nightingale and his wife, Andrea, of New Limerick; along with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Emery.

Services will be held noon Monday, March 18, at County Road Baptist Church, New Limerick, with the Rev. Jamie Gardiner officiating. Visiting hours will begin 10 a.m. Committal will be after the service at New Limerick Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers that donations be made to Greater Houlton Christian Academy.
