MILLINOCKET - Marguerite S. (Stearns) Kimball, 83, passed away peacefully Jan. 26, 2013, surrounded by her three daughters. Marguerite was born April 5, 1929, in Portland, the eldest child of Marcus and Esther (Allard) Stearns of Lovell.

She was a 1948 graduate of Fryeburg Academy and received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1952 from Gorham Teacher's College. Marguerite taught second grade after graduation for one year and was a substitute teacher for more than 30 years. Marguerite was a lifelong member of Order of the Eastern Star and was a member of First Congregational Church. Marguerite traveled extensively with her husband and family throughout the United States including Hawaii, Canada, several Caribbean Islands and Europe. Marguerite was happiest at home knitting, playing cards and enjoying time with her family. She was a gentle, giving woman who always put others first.
She was predeceased by her husband, Reginald, in 1990; and sister, Marcia Hamlin, in 2012. She leaves behind her younger brother, Albert Stearns and wife, Jacky, of Lovell; three daughters, Valerie Leino and her husband, George, of Millinocket, Pamela Smith and her husband, Jon, of Millinocket and Esther LeBlanc and her companion, Peter Kelleher, of Bridgewater, Mass.; and six grandchildren, Thomas Smith and companion, Maegen Robinson, of Westbrook, Tara McCannell and husband, Gavin McCannell, of Westbrook, Alison Brown and husband, Terrance Brown, of Millinocket, Andrew Smith of Bangor, Matthew Leino of Portland and Nicholas LeBlanc of Bridgewater, Mass. Marguerite also leaves behind five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Marguerite's life will be held in the spring. Donations may be made in remembrance of Marguerite to the American Stroke Foundation.
