PEMBROKE - Majel Marie Moody-Short, 73, passed away after a long illness, Feb. 11, 2013 at a Lubec nursing home. She was born to Donald and Viola (Cropley) Moody in Danforth, on the Fourth of July, 1939.

She attended schools in Danforth and Connecticut. Majel worked many jobs and operated a couple of small businesses, including The Danforth Laundry-Mat, and Marshall's L.P. Gas and Oil in Danforth. She served on many local boards and volunteered with many organizations such as the Lincoln Memorial Library in Dennysville, Charlotte Baptist Church Summer Bible School, and Cobscook Community Learning Center. Majel attended several churches during her life, settling with the Charlotte Baptist Church for the last few years. Majel had a life-long love of music and sang and played piano and banjo in choirs, a small local band, and community music sessions.

She is survived by her husband, Calvin Short of Pembroke; her sister, Linda Parker of Danforth; three sons, Jon "Mike" and Lori Johnson of Florida, Scott and Lorie Johnson of Edmunds Township, and Brent and Carmen Johnson of Florida; grandchildren, Nicole, Donnie, Missy, Brandi, BJ, Carrie M., Jennifer A., John M., Joshua and Tyler; several great-grandchildren and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, her first born son, Donald; her sister, Judy, and second husband, Thomas E. Marshall.
