MILLINOCKET - Louis P. Baron, 80, died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, at a Millinocket hospital. He was born Feb. 7, 1932, in Millinocket, the son of Joseph and Ann (Bouchard) Baron.

A lifelong resident of Millinocket, Louie worked for Great Northern Paper Co. for 32 years, retiring in 1981. He was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America. Louie enjoyed woodworking and made several canoes for his own use. He also liked working on guns. Louie loved the outdoors and could often be found spending time at his camper at Sourdehunk Lake, enjoying time spent fishing, hunting, and talking about both. He will be missed by his family, with whom he was happiest, and many friends.

Louie is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dorothy F. "Dot" (Murray) Baron of Millinocket; three children, Linda and her husband, Joe Holt, of North Conway, N.H., Michael Baron and his wife, Kim, of Millinocket and Scott Baron and his wife, Sherry, of Mariaville; three grandchildren, Lindsey Baron, Katie Baron and Spencer Baron; two sisters, Janet Ries of New Hampshire and Geneva Pelletier of New Jersey; several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Louie was predeceased by a sister, Claire Beaulieu; four brothers, Mark Baron, Murio "Jeep" Baron, Leonard Baron and Joseph Baron Jr.; seven sisters-in-law, Nina Baron, Willenana Baron, Cecile Baron, Jeanne Baron, Helen Murray Statsny, Marilyn Murray and Margaret Murray; and five brothers-in-law, Earl Murray Jr., Leo Pelletier, Keith Elliott, John Statsny and Frank Ries.

Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, at Millinocket Cemetery with Deacon Danny Watson officiating. Gifts in memory of Louie may be sent to Katahdin Area Support Group, 10 Field St., Millinocket, ME 04462. Arrangements are by Lamson Funeral Home, Millinocket.
