NEW CANADA and SOLDIER POND - Linda (Martin) Blanchette, 68, died peacefully June 29, 2013, surrounded by her family at her residence. She was born May 19, 1945, in New Canada, daughter of Legorie and Lillian (Bouthot) Martin.

Linda worked in nursing homes most of her career. She loved caring for people, often taking care of her family when they were ill. She was very dedicated to her husband and her family. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 48 years, Ernest Blanchette of New Canada; daughter, Sandra and husband, Steve Ouellette, of Fort Kent; two sons, Steve and wife, Ruby Blanchette, and Jeff and wife, Kristi Blanchette, all of New Canada; and seven grandchildren, Samantha, Megan, Jonathan, Amanda and Josh Blanchette all of New Canada, Matthew and Curtis Ouellette both of Fort Kent. She is also survived by four sisters, Theresa Pelletier of Fort Kent, Kathleen Nadeau of Caribou, Wilfrieda Pelletier of Sly Brook Road, and Mary Esther Clavette of Buxton; five brothers, Robert Martin of Newington, Conn., John Martin and Cecil Homestead of Winterville Plantation, Alfred and wife, Jackie Martin, Tommy and wife, Evelyn Martin, all of Southington, Conn., and Maxim and wife, Nancy Martin, of Eagle lake; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by five brothers, Terry, James, Donald, Joseph and Clarence; and two sisters, Edwina and Beverly Ann Plourde.

In keeping with her wishes there will be no visiting hours at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 3, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Soldier Pond. Graveside services will be afterward at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Wallagrass. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may donate in Linda's memory to Edgar J. Paradis Cancer Fund, 194 East Main St., Fort Kent, ME 04743. Services by Daigle Funeral Home, Fort Kent.
