GOULDSBORO - Leslie K. Foss, 80, died unexpectedly Dec. 24, 2012. He was born April 18, 1932, to Kenneth J. Foss and Dorothy G. Foss.

Leslie served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, from June 27, 1950, to Jan. 31, 1955. He was released from the Army Reserves Oct. 31, 1961. Upon being released from the reserves, he went to work on construction. Leslie worked for Bridge Construction and Cianbro Construction. He retired from Cianbro Construction in 1994. After a brief retirement period, he went to work for local construction companies until 2009.

Leslie was predeceased by his wife, Leola E. (Knowles) Foss; and son, Jay L. Foss. He is survived by four children, Jeanne Weeks, Jackie Foss, Michael Colson and his wife, Beverly, and Clifford Colson and his wife, Patti; four grandchildren, Sierra Weeks of Gouldsboro, Christopher Colson and his wife, Laurie, of Santa Maria, Calif., Crystal Colson of Gouldsboro and Jennifer Colson of Surry; two great-grandchildren, Amaya Colson and Jaylen Colson of Surry; nieces, nephews and cousins.

In honor of our fathers wishes, he will be cremated and there will be no funeral services. The immediate family will have a private burial in the spring. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to in his name.
