GUILFORD and RALEIGH, N.C. - Kay Lucinda Haley, 64, went to be with her Lord quietly May 6, 2012, surrounded by staff who deeply loved her at her home at The Covington, Raleigh, N.C. Kay was born May 28, 1947, in Dover-Foxcroft, to the late Manley A. and late Melva M. Haley of Guilford. She was the first of three girls. Kay graduated from Piscataquis Community High School in 1965. She took classes at Oak Grove School, Vassalboro, and the University of Maine, Orono. She became a certified nurse's aide and worked in Dover, N.H. She also had various other jobs in retail and restaurants in Texas and North Carolina. Kay loved to ride horses and ski on water and snow. She was a water ski instructor at T-Ledge camp on Orrs Island. Kay also loved church activities and was very active in her hometown Methodist church, as well as other churches she attended in Texas and North Carolina. Kay is survived by her younger sister, Merry Dennis; brother-in-law, Bruce Dennis; nieces, Sarah and Catherine Dennis; great-niece, Alexa Stratton; and nephew, Mark Dennis, all of Manchester, Conn. Kay is also survived by her youngest sister, Jan Carter and brother-in-law, Philip Carter, of Raleigh, N.C. Kay had many cousins and friends. Viewing will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, May 12, at Guilford United Methodist Church, where the funeral will begin 11 a.m. with Pastor Stephen Dean officiating. Burial will be at Lawn Cemetery, Guilford. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Guilford Memorial Library Fund, P.O.
