DEER ISLE - Kathryn "Kay" Grindle passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at Blue Hill Memorial Hospital from complications of heart disease. Kay was born Oct. 27, 1921, to Archibald and Isabelle (Dodge) Barbour.

Kay was a life member of Order of the Eastern Star, Harborview Chapter No. 136, and enjoyed reading, watching the many birds frequent her bird feeder and visits from her friends and family. She loved to share stories with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and cherished their calls and visits

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Gerard H. Donovan; second husband of 57 years, Milton W. Grindle; son, David Grindle; and special granddaughter, Joanne Donovan. Kay is survived by her loving sister, Virginia MacDonald of Stonington; daughters, Gayle Brown of Topsham, and Linda Stevens and husband, Peter, of Clifton; and sons, Gerald Donovan and wife, Nola, of Deer Isle, and Richard Grindle and wife, Sherri, of Orrington. Kay also leaves nieces, nephews and dear friends, along with 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service and burial will be held in May at Mount Adams Cemetery, Deer Isle.
