CORINNA - Kathleen "Jody" Leavitt, 87, died Jan. 13, 2013, at a Pittsfield health care facility. She was born April 6, 1925, in Madison, a daughter of Louise and Mabel (Webber) Bird.

She graduated from Corinna Union Academy, Class of 1943. Jody was employed at A & P Grocery Store, Moosehead Woolen Mill, Eastland Woolen Mill and Al Bird's Socony gas station, and owned and operated Jody's Grocery, all of Corinna. She retired from Dexter Shoe Co. She was a member of Post No. 73 American Legion Auxiliary, United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women's Club, all of Corinna.
She is survived by her son, Kenneth and wife, Martha Bouchard, of Royalston, Mass.; daughter, Jolene and husband, Glen Duplisea of Dexter; two grandchildren, Gretchen Duplisea and Stephanie Stoddard; six great-grandchildren, Kiya, Tatum, Detric, Rilee, Jada and Kamdyn; many nieces and nephews. Jody was predeceased by her first husband, Lloyd Bouchard; second husband, Edmund Leavitt; brothers, Al, John and Will Bird; and sisters, Ruth Bird, Thelma Boone and Pauline Jude.
Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, at Crosby & Neal Chapel, 68 Exeter Road, Corinna, where funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday with the Rev. Terrence McKinley officiating. Spring burial will be in Corinna Village Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Corinna United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 418, Corinna, ME 04928.
