GLENBURN - John "Tommy" Ayer Sr., 63, passed away peacefully Monday, Sept. 17, 2012, at his home after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born Feb. 4, 1949, in Bangor, son of the late Donald W. Ayer and Bernice P. (Crosby).

He married his high school sweetheart Candice A. Bowers in January 1968 and they were married 43 years. He loved hunting, fishing and camping, spending time in Matagamon and at the family camp with family and friends. 

He is survived by his loving wife, Candice; and two sons, John T. Ayer Jr. his wife, Teri, and his son, Justin T. Ayer, and Todd A. Ayer and his daughter, Marina D. Belcher. He leaves five siblings behind: two brothers, Donald "Skip" Ayer Jr. his wife, Barbie, and William "Billy" Ayer and his wife, Dawn; and three sisters, Donna Ayer, Carolyn Ayer and Belinda (Ayer) Sullivan and her husband, Dana. He also leaves many loved nieces, and nephews; and special friends, Doug and Poise Cowan, Don and Diane Dudley, Joe and Sue Christiansen, also Joe Walsh. He was loved very much and will be greatly missed.

The family will be holding private services to say their goodbyes.
