EAST HARTFORD, Conn. - Joan C. Olsen, 78, the beloved wife of 54 years to Arnold Olsen, died Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at Glastonbury Health Care Center. Born in Van Buren, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Yvonne (Oullette) Corriveau. Joan retired from the town of East Hartford as assistant registrar of voters after many years of service. She was a volunteer at Manchester Memorial Hospital for 10 years, a life member of Sons of Norway, and a frequent blood and apheresis cell donor for the American Red Cross. Joan's love for family, friends and community was always evident in the many activities she enjoyed. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Hans Olsen and his wife, Denise, of Colchester, Conn., Mark Olsen and his wife, Loren, of Colchester, Conn., and Julie Fluckiger and her husband, Collin, of Tolland, Conn.; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Claudette Hallisey of Fort Myers, Fla.; her brother, Bob Corriveau of North Falmouth, Mass.; numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Carl Olsen; one brother and three sisters. Funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, July 29, at John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center St., Manchester, Conn. Family and friends may call 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial in Van Buren will occur at a later date.
