MOLUNKUS - Jerry W. Ackley, 70, husband of Sybil (Ingalls) Ackley, died May 3, 2012, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Nov. 21, 1941, at his grandmother Ackley's home in East Machias, son of Llewellyn Ackley and Mildred (Brooks) Calhoun. Jerry was a firefighter for the town of East Millinocket for many years, retiring as assistant chief. He was an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed fly-fishing and hunting. In addition to his wife, Sybil of Molunkus, he is survived by two children, Heather Ackley and Earl Cottle of Millinocket, and Wayne Ackley and Joanne of Lisbon; five grandchildren, Megan Ackley, Kristen Ackley, Jayson Chase, Tyler Cottle and Eric Ackley; six siblings, David Ackley of Winter Harbor, Annie Stanley of Topsfield, Mary Ackley of Princeton, Barbara Bragg of Topsfield, Sherrill Norris of Tennessee and Stanley Bowden of Florida; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Linwood Bowden. At the family's request, there will be no funeral.
