NEWPORT - Jeannette Anita Temple, 97, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jan. 11, 2013, with family by her side after a brief illness. Jeannette was born July 7, 1915, in Oakland, the daughter of Harry and Clara (Thibodeau) Lessard.
The Guest Book is expired.
Jeannette, along with her three sisters, was educated at St. Joseph's Academy, South Berwick, a convent run by the Sisters of St. Joseph from Lyon, France. As a young woman Jeannette was an active member of local figure skating clubs that performed throughout the Northeast. Highlights included skating at The Boston Garden and Rockefeller Center. She lived most of her life in the central Maine communities of Waterville, Pittsfield, Corinna, St. Albans and Newport. For many years she and her husband owned and operated a poultry farm in Corinna. Jeannette was loved by all who knew her, and she made many lasting friends. Important in her life was her love for her family and her faith in the Lord, which provided her much comfort and helped to sustain and enrich her life. A wonderful cook and homemaker, Jeannette enjoyed flower gardening, embroidery and knitting, fashion, car trips, and a great buy at a yard sale.
She was predeceased by loving husband, Floyd Temple; a daughter, Susan Toulouse; and siblings, Morton Lessard, Marcinette LaVerdiere, Carmen Tibbetts and Hope Butler. She is survived by two sons, Edward E. Toulouse and his wife, Judith, of Plymouth and James Toulouse and his wife, Alexandra, of Cape Elizabeth; a daughter, Rosalie Gordon and her husband, Thomas, of Newport; grandchildren, Suzanne Satterfield and her husband, Joe, of Bowdoinham, Edward J. Toulouse and his wife, Tiffany, of Plymouth, Emily Toulouse, Laura Iwane and her husband, Naoki, all of New York City, and Rachel Clukey and her husband, Thomas, of Westbrook; four great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Private graveside funeral and committal services will be held in the spring at Palmyra Village Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to the charity of one's choice. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport. Those who wish may leave written tributes at www.CrosbyNeal.com.
