CHERRYFIELD - Jeanne Katherine Hopkins was born March 28, 1948, in East Orange, N.J. After a brave struggle with a rare form of melanoma that eventually spread to her brain, Jeanne joined her parents and brother in heaven Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012.
The Guest Book is expired.
Jeanne was an extremely caring and devoted mother and grandmother. She wanted nothing more in life than to spend time with her family and give as much as she was able. Indeed, she took care of her parents, Harry and Helen Hopkins, with careful attention and devotion as their lives came to an end. Jeanne was intelligent, beautiful and passionate. She loved the art of gemology, was a beautiful singer - "the girl with the golden voice" and well-traveled, having been to England and Ireland among others. There are no words to express how much Jeanne will be missed.
Jeanne is survived by her two daughters, Kelley Jeanne Harris of Los Angeles and Piera Helen Olzer of Cherryfield. She leaves two granddaughters, Nevaeh Haven Smith of Cherryfield and Morgan Ellen Harris of Los Angeles. Jeanne is also survived by her aunt and uncle, Jeanne and Sam Alvine and their three children, Deborah, Barbara and Sammy Jr., who all reside in New Jersey.
Jeanne's viewing will be held 5-7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21, at the Milbridge chapel of Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home. Her funeral will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, at First Baptist Church, Cherryfield, with a burial service immediately after at Small Cemetery, Cherryfield. Pastor Max Merrill, a good friend of the family, will officiate the service. Arrangements by Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, Milbridge.
