ORRINGTON - J.P. Gosselin, 77, died May 13, 2012, surrounded by his loving family at home, after a long battle with C.O.P.D. He was born June 25, 1934, in Lewiston, son of Archille and Beatrice Coulombe Gosselin. J.P. graduated from Holy Cross School and St. Dominic High. He served with the U.S. Army in Germany during the Korean War. After the war, he became a Lewiston firefighter and married his high school sweetheart, Lucille J. Labranche. They settled in Lewiston until 1974 when they moved to the Bangor area. J.P. and Lucille were the first Tupperware, Inc. wholesale franchise owners serving the state of Maine. The franchise was known as Down-East Parties, Inc. J.P. retired in 1994. Over the years, he served on St. Teresa's Parish Council Finance Committee. He also enjoyed actively taping Masses for those absent from them. J.P. and Lucille celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary May 9 before he fell into a peaceful sleep. As an avid sports fan, J.P. was often seen at various Black Bears' hockey games with his best friend, Roger Begin of Brewer. He enjoyed photography, history, sailing and astronomy. J.P. was a regular at the local Dunkin' Donuts, where he met with many friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his infant son, Joseph; his brothers, Germain and Marcel; his sisters, Liette Poliquin and Exilia St. Pierre; his sisters-in-law, Anne Labranche and Jeannine Gosselin; and his brothers-in-law, Roger and Richard Labranche and Peter St. Pierre. Surviving are his wife, Lucille; their son, John of Brewer, his two children, Alexandria and Christopher and their mother, Barbara Gosselin; their daughter, Louise Flagg and husband, Bruce, of Brewer, and their daughter, Jenna; their son, James "Jim" of Bangor, his wife, Kellie, and their three children, Kelsey, Kodie and Joshua; and a very special foster daughter, Peggi Bineau of Lisbon. In addition, he is survived by his brother, Donald and his sister, Sr. Yvette Gosselin, SFCC, both from Lewiston; a brother-in-law, Robert Labranche and his wife, Alice, of Seal Beach, Calif.; and sisters-in-law, Suzanne LaRue of Auburn, Sallie Labranche of Gorham, Doris Gosselin of Lewiston, and Gertrude Gosselin of Brewer, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may call 4-7 p.m. Friday, May 18, at Brewer Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 55 South Main St., Brewer. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday, May 19, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Teresa's Roman Catholic Church, South Main St., Brewer. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments immediately after the service at St. Teresa's Parish Center. Interment will be held at a later time at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery, Lewiston.
