CALAIS - Jean Marie Robb, 85, passed away Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, at a Bangor health care center. Jean was born May 28, 1927, in St. Stephen, New Brunswick, daughter of the late Philip and Vera (Murphy) Hollingdale.

She graduated from Calais Academy, class of 1944, and furthered her education at Holy Rosary Business College. Jean worked for U.S. Employment Service until she married Bernard Robb, June 21, 1948, in Calais. Later, she started her career as the city controller with the city of Calais, retiring with 20 years of service. Jean was a Communicant of Immaculate Conception R.C. Church, Calais, where she was a member of Ladies Sodality, as well as sang in the choir. She enjoyed knitting sweaters, which everyone knew as "Grammie Jean Sweaters," but her most cherished times were those spent with her family.

In addition to her family, Jean was predeceased by her husband, Bernard; infant son, Daniel Robb; and two brothers, Paul and Philip Hollingdale. Surviving are her 10 children, Janice Tollison and husband, Chuck, of Waco, Texas, Daniel Robb and wife, Brenda, of Calais, David Robb and wife, Kathy, of St. Augustine, Fla., Rona Robb and companion, Joyce Dunphy, of Calais, Bernard Robb and wife, Marcy, of Pawleys Island, S.C., Theresa Porter and husband, Jim, of Calais, Mary Jean Redding and husband, Jeff, of Calais, Patricia Reynolds and husband, Dana, of Meddybemps, Martha Apkarian and husband, Rob, of Alton Bay, N.H., and Catherine Cartwright and husband, Brian, of Veazie; one brother, Daniel Hollingdale and wife, Carol, of Robbinston; two sisters-in-law, Gloria Hollingdale of Calais and Jackie Hollingdale of Vermont; 20 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 10, at Immaculate Conception R.C. Church, Calais, by Father James Plourde. Burial will be after at Calais Cemetery. Condolences and memories may be shared at
