AMESBURY, Mass. - Jean E. (Hatt) Carr Brooks, 77, formerly of the Merrimack Valley area and Alexander, died Thursday morning, June 7, 2012, surrounded by the family she loved so very dearly at Anna Jaques Hospital, Newburyport, Mass., after a short illness. She was the widow of David G. Brooks, who passed away in 2008, and was also married to Clyde R. Carr of Boxford, Mass. Born Sept. 21, 1934, in North Head, Grand Manan Island, New Brunswick, she was the daughter of the late Alexander J. and H. Frances (Beale) Hatt. She was a graduate of the former St. Croix High School, Woodland/Baileyville. For many years Jean worked in medical billing, the last at St. Joseph's Hospital, Nashua, N.H. She was a member of the Rebekah's and Grange. Jean will be sadly missed by her family, which includes her six children, Ann E. Standley and husband, Wayne L. Sr., of Lowell, Mass., Betty J. Gibson and husband, Robert, of East Wakefield, N.H., Sheryl A. Lau of Elkhart, Ind., Rhoda F. Connolly and husband, Edward J. Jr., of Amesbury, Mass., David F. Brooks and wife, MaryAnn, of Epping, N.H., and J. Patricia Pelzcar and husband, Timothy V., of Methuen, Mass.; her adoring 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Roy D. Hatt of Inverness, Fla., and George W. Hatt of Bridgewater; along with several generations of nieces and nephews, and many dear friends. She was predeceased by her brother, Charles B. Hatt; and sister, Barbara L. (Hatt) Towle. Services for family and friends are planned for a later date. There will be no visiting hours and the family kindly asks that in lieu of flowers, donations in her memory be made to the
