HERMON and LEVANT - James R. White, 65, went home to be with the Lord Dec. 24, 2012, after battling heart disease, diabetes and renal failure for many years. He was born Aug. 16, 1947, in Boston, a son of the Rev. Melvin and Ruth (Webb) White.

He graduated from Washburn High School and the University of Maine at Presque Isle. Throughout his working life he was employed by Northern Maine Community College, IBM, Bangor Savings Bank and Community Health and Counseling Services. Jim enjoyed many outdoor activities, which included his dogs.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Barbara White; father, Melvin and wife, Audrey White, of Vermont; brother, Paul and wife, Marylyn White of New York; sister, Lanita White of Missouri; nieces, great-nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother, Ruth White; and brother, Arthur White.
A celebration of his life will be held 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, at Cornerstone Baptist Church, Exeter, with Pastor Stan Griffin officiating. Friends may call 3 p.m. until the time of service at the church. A supper will be after the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Guiding Eyes For The Blind, 611 Granite Springs Road, Yorktown Heights, NY 10598, attention: Lynn Shulman or Cornerstone Baptist Church, P.O.
