VENICE, FLA. - Hubert "Hubie" Blethen, 82, passed peacefully Dec. 30, 2012. Hubie was born Dec. 14, 1930, in Brewer.

He was a Bangor High School graduate, serving four years from 1951 to 1955 in the U.S. Army. A younger Hubie enjoyed playing baseball and later in life loved to bowl. For 31 years he was known as "The Telephone Man" by his Levant and Kenduskeag neighbors. Having a love for horses, he proudly rode in the Anah Temple Mounted Shriner Patrol Parades.

Hubie is survived by his wife, Carolyn; four children, Mark, Linda, Jeffrey and Donna; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Hubie requested cremation with no public services.
