ORLAND - Helen Dolores "Dodie" Roi, 91, died Saturday, May 5, 2012, with her loving family by her side at a Bangor nursing facility. She was born Feb. 15, 1921, in East Millinocket, daughter of Arthur and Hazel (MacEachern) Casey. Dodie's greatest love was her family. She loved spending time at the ocean and playing cards with the girls on Orland Hill. She also found great joy in cooking for her family. Each one having a favorite dish that she made, fudge to hamburg gravy. Dodie was a communicant of St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, serving as an Eucharistic minister, and was a member of the women's group of the church. She is survived by one sister, Nancy Bowden and husband, Calvin; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jean Flannery and husband, Ed, Lionel Harvey, Charlotte Snowman and Tippy Gross and husband, Cuddy; and nine children, Arthur Roi and wife, Durena, Susan Eastman and husband, Preston, Jim Roi and wife, Robin, Tom Roi and wife, Kate, Charlie Roi and wife, Sharon, Nancy Stewart, Sally Roi, Mike Roi and wife, Sheri, and Tim Roi and wife, Hazel; 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Vincent Roi; one son-in-law, Danny Stewart; one great-grandson, Tristan Blethen; brothers and sisters, Walter and Hazel Casey, Betty (Casey) and "Kick" Grindal, Donald and "Pete" Casey; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Katherine and John Kennedy, Margaret and Malcolm Gilley, Robert Roi, Molly and Jamie LeClair, Douglas Snowman and Sandra Harvey. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Ross Manor, especially the staff of Engel Place. Family and friends will gather for visitation 5-7 p.m. Friday, May 11, at Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday, May 12, at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, Franklin Street, Bucksport, with Father Bruce Siket, celebrant. Committal will be private for the family after the Mass at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Cemetery. A reception will be held after the Mass in the basement of the church for all whom wish to attend. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Helen's name may be made to Ross Manor, Engel Place, 758 Broadway, Bangor, ME 04401.
