ST. DAVID - George Emile Deschaine, 91, passed away May 8, 2012, at a Madawaska health care facility. He was born Sept. 10, 1920, in Madawaska, the son of the late George and Clara (Cyr) Deschaine. George was a communicant of St. David Church and worked as church sexton for 35 years. He also drove bus for Madawaska School Department for 56 years. In his later years he enjoyed tending to his big vegetable gardens. He loved to fish and hunt rabbit. George was a lifetime member of Fourth Degree Madawaska Knights of Columbus. He is survived by one daughter, Diane Thibeault of Madawaska; four sons, Ron Deschaine and his wife, Marie, Real Deschaine and his wife, Ann, Danny Deschaine and his wife, Donna, and Guy Deschaine and his wife, Barbara, all of Madawaska; 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; one daughter-in-law, Claudette Deschaine of Frenchville; one sister, Bernice Morin of Ville Deglaise, Quebec; two sisters-in-law, Bernice Deschaine and Gilmay Deschaine; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one son, Norman Deschaine; two brothers, Willard and Vanier; and one sister, Emelda Cyr. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday, May 12, at St. David Church.
