OLD TOWN and ELY, Nev. - Our dad, George A. McCrum passed away March 15, 2013, after a long battle with lymphoma, with his family by his side. Our father and his identical twin brother were born May 8, 1944, in Bangor.

Dad was a 1962 graduate of Old Town High School, Old Town. He joined the U.S. Air Force that year and after technical training in power production was stationed at Ramstein Air Base, Germany. Dad met his sweetheart, Airman Judy Renda, at the base in 1965, and married six months later. Their union lasted 47 years. Dad retired in 1982 after 20 years of honorable military service. He worked for Newmont Mining Corp. and Department of Motor Vehicle, Elko, Nev., before transferring to Ely, Nev. Dad was a member of American Mountaineering Club of Europe and Tan Son Nhut Association; the Newmont Mining Fire and Rescue, Elko County Sheriff's posse Search and Rescue, Ely Volunteer Fire Department and Nevada Trapper's Association. Dad and Renda are the only father/daughter members of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2350, Elko, Nev. He loved bow hunting, fishing and trapping, and doing leather and bead work in his teepee. Dad built our home a few miles south of Ely, Nev., with the help of family and friends.

Our father was predeceased by his father, Robert Malcom McCrum, D.O.; mother, Ezilda Mae (Moore) McCrum; and cousin, Bonnie (Gove) Ohlund. Survivors include his wife, Judy; daughter, Renda McCrum; son, George A. McCrum Jr. and wife, Dina; and twins: daughter, Mar-cey and husband, Jason Logsden, and son, Matthew McCrum. He is also survived by his brother, Richard McCrum and wife, Barbara; twin brother, Norris Robert McCrum; and sister, Jeanne and husband, Dick Wilson. Dad leaves behind his seven amazing grandchildren, Christine, Samantha, Jessica, Jena, Nicholas, Jordan and Bridger; and two precious great-grandsons, Joey and Jack.

A private family memorial service was held.

"We love you, Dad."
